KOTA KINABALU: The people’s need and wellbeing will always be looked after, despite major projects taking precedence in the state.
Sabah Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony said the state government had taken into account the interests of the people, when it decided to undertake a study on the proposed railway link between the state capital and Kudat.
“The rail link is in line with the proposed Kudat port construction and would also benefit the people in Kota Belud, Kota Marudu and Kudat”.
He added that the feasibility study for the 175-km railway project with a cost of RM2 million would kick-off next year and completed within 12 months.
Peter said the state government would continue to emphasise infrastructure for the rural areas despite major projects being lined-up in the state.
“In fact, I had been to all the districts and worked with assemblymen on the list of roads and bridges that needs to be fixed,” he said.
He said this in reply to a supplementary question posed by Datuk Joniston Bangkuai (Parti Bersatu Sabah- Kiulu) on the proposed RM5.2 billion railway project as well as whether it is in line with the balanced development for people of Sabah, particularly in the rural areas.
