Heart-wrenching scene at Serdang Hospital

SERDANG: It was a heart-wrenching scene at the Serdang Hospital Forensic Department today as a woman cradling her 4-month-old daughter wept incessantly.

Qistina Ayu Mohd Rozhan, 28 was waiting for the remains of her husband, Syed Muhammad Danial Syed Syakir, 29, who was killed following an accident at KM 239 North South Expressway near Bangi on Saturday.

Wiping her tears with her headscarf at regular intervals, she was comforted by her family members as she waited for the post mortem to be completed.

Qistina Ayu refused to be interviewed, when approached by members of the media.

Her father, Mohd Rozhan Ramlee, 57, who was present at the department, pledged to help in taking care of his granddaughter, Sharifah Dian.

"Allahuakbar, I will help to take care of my granddaughter. I didn’t expect we will lose him in an accident.

“My son-in-law was an obedient son. He will take his wife and daughter to visit his mother in Shah Alam every weekend. They were supposed to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha there,” he said when met at the mortuary today.

Rozhan learnt of the tragic news from his youngest child, Zafri Amir, 19, who received information from his friend who happened to pass by the accident scene about 2pm yesterday.

“Upon learning the news, my daughter and I rushed to scene from our house in Bukit Mahkota near Bangi.

“Zafri who arrived at the scene earlier took his brother-in-law to a nearby clinic with the assistance of members of the public. He (the victim) was later taken to Nilai Medical Centre because the clinic was closed.”

He thought Syed Muhammad Danial only sustained light injuries judging the damage to the car.

“Only the back of the car was dented. We thought he only sustained light injuries. However, he was pronounced dead at Nilai Medical Centre due to severe head injuries,” he said.

Zafri said his brother-in-law was found lying semi-conscious on the road side near the scene of the accident.

“There were bruises on his head and abdomen. He was semi-conscious when taken to to the clinic.

“He lost consciousness after arriving at the Nilai Medical Centre before being taken to the emergency unit where he was pronounced dead.

Syed Muhammad Danial was buried at the Bukit Mahkota Muslim Cemetery in Bangi.
