Drunken man arrested for causing disturbance on Langkawi-Subang flight

PETALING JAYA: A man, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, was arrested for causing a disturbance on a plane last night.

Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din said the incident occurred at about 9.40pm when the plane was en route from Langkawi to Subang.

He said the 23-year-old man was being told off by a cabin crew after he was found to have consumed a yellow liquid from a mineral water bottle.

“The flight attendant tried to advise the man after she smelled alcohol, but the man ignored her and continue drinking.

“About 10.50pm when the plane was about to land at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, the man started to disturb the flight attendant.

“He also threw an empty mineral water bottle to the flight attendant but missed,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Zani added that when the plane was approaching the parking bay, the man again caused a disturbance by spewing vulgarities towards the flight attendant.

“As soon as the plane made a complete stop, the cabin crew leader called security officers and they brought the man to the police station before a report was lodged,” he said.

Investigation found that the suspect, who’s from Ampang, has a previous criminal record involving theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code.

Also seized was a 500ml mineral water bottle containing yellow liquid, believed to be alcohol, and the suspect’s flight ticket.
