King visits Brunei Islamic Religious Council

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today visited the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) here.

His Majesty was received on arrival by the Religious Affairs Minister of Brunei, who is also MUIB president, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin Othman as well as the staff of the council and Brunei Religious Affairs Ministry officials.

During the goodwill visit lasting about 90 minutes, Sultan Abdullah was given a briefing on the council and was shown a special exhibition of the department, Mosque Fund, Islamic Law Unit and Halal Food Control Division.

The goodwill visit was part of Sultan Abdullah’s three-day state visit to Brunei beginning on Sunday.

It is His Majesty’s first state visit since he was installed as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on July 30.

MUIB’s roles include providing advice to the Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah on Islamic matters.

In a separate programme, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah visited the Rumah Pertubuhan Perkumpulan Perempuan in Bukit Bendera, Tutong, here, where she planted a tree and sampled traditional Bruneian food and weaving products.

Tunku Azizah was accompanied by Pengiran Anak Puteri Masna Bolkiah, who is a sister of Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. - Bernama
