Unlicensed resort operators in Negri to face music

SEREMBAN: The state government will take stern action against resort owners in Pantai Hills here who have yet to apply for an operating license from the Nilai Municipal Council (NMC).

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the operators have been given a deadline of Aug 31 to comply.

He said at the end of the period, another round of discussions with relevant parties will be held to decide on the next course of action.

"We have made an offer to owners… operating without permission…The deadline is Aug 31.

“The state government is considering drastic action (if they fail to comply by then)," he said.

Earlier, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (BN Umno-Rantau) advised the state government against promoting eco-tourism in the state – including in Bukit Berembun under the Lenggeng constituency – without considering aspects of safety and security.

He cited the tragedy of Irish teenager Nora Anne Quoirin, 15, who was found dead after going missing for 10 days from a resort near here.

"This issue needs to be addressed immediately, as it will give a bad image to the country and Negri Sembilan because we don't know how the operators run their resorts," he said.
