Exhibition pays tribute to TNB's role in nation building

KUALA LUMPUR: The role played by Tenaga Nasional Bhd in nation building is being showcased through an arts and photography exhibition at Galeri Prima, Bangsar.

Themed “Tribute to The Nation’s Pride”, the exhibition was officiated by TNB chairman Tan Sri Leo Moggie yesterday. It will be held until Sept 20.

It features 40 artworks specially selected from TNB’s collection which displayed elements of the country’s culture and heritage, as well as the utility company’s transformation over the past seven decades. Another 80 photographs, dating back from 1949, are a combination of visuals from the archives of TNB and New Straits Times Press Bhd.

Moggie said the collection of photos recorded the journey of Malaysia and Malaysians together with TNB through the years.

“It was first known as the Central Electricity Board. Subsequently, the name was changed to National Electricity Board , followed by National Electric Board, and finally TNB.

“Over the last seven decades, TNB has undergone transformations and has grown from strength to strength. Today, TNB is ready to face future challenges,” Moggie said at the launch in Balai Berita.

Present were NSTP chief operating officer Datuk Yushaimi Yahaya and Lembah Pantai member of parliament Fahmi Fadzil.

Among the artworks showcased are paintings by renowned artists such as Datuk Mohamad Hoessein Enas, Datuk Syed Ahmad Syed Jamal, Datuk Ibrahim Hussein, Abdul Latiff Mohidin and Datuk Chuah Thean Teng.

Moggie expressed hope that the extraordinary contribution by TNB in the nation’s development would inspire Malaysians to be proud of the country’s uniqueness and independence.
