IGP: Don't twist my remarks on opposition seeking to destabilise government

PUTRAJAYA: Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said it was normal for opposition parties to undermine the winning party of a general election, especially when it involves a change of government.

"Normally it happens like that when there is change of government. I'm not accusing anyone. It is normal for things like that to happen

"The party which had lost would try to weaken the party which has won. As simple as that. Don't twist it," he said, speaking after attending Home Ministry's Merdeka Day celebration today.

In an interview with South China Morning Post, Hamid had said Opposition parties were attempting to destabilise the Pakatan Harapan government amidst a rise in racial and religious tension.

He added that the situation in the country was now ‘troubling’.
