Missing teen found safe in Kuala Kangsar

KUALA KANGSAR: A teenager who was reported missing after performing prayers at the Al-Taufiqiah Mosque in Kampung Chuar, Kati has been found near Jalan Kuala Kangsar-Gerik near Sauk here at 5.10pm today.

Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Taufiq Abd Satar said the 18-year-old teenager, Izzuddin Syuib, was found by a police patrol unit about five kilometres from where he was last seen.

"The teenager, clad in a black t-shirt and shorts, was found by the team and he looked very weak but able to speak. There are also bruises on her arms and legs.

"We believe that there was some misunderstanding between him and one of his friends when they stopped by at the mosque to perform their prayers.

"Izzuddin, who was disappointed, decided to leave his friends and wanted to go to his grandmother's house in Lenggong," he said, adding that the teenager was taken to the Kuala Kangsar Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Kuala Kangsar district police chief assistant commissioner Razali Ibrahim said they received a report on the missing teenager at 11pm and authorities had launched a search operation.

Razali said the search and rescue (SAR) operation continued today at 8am involving 54 personnel from the police department, fire and rescue department, RELA and Civil Defence Force.

Izzuddin and his three other friends were heading to Kuala Lumpur from Baling, Kedah and decided to stop by at the mosque to perform the Maghrib and Isyak prayers.
