KL decked out in royal yellow for Agong's birthday

KUALA LUMPUR: Main roads across the city and near Istana Negara here are festooned with yellow banners and posters featuring the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and his consort, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, for the King’s official birthday celebration, today.

The vibrant displays also include congratulatory messages to the Agong, who turns 60.

In addition to decorated thoroughfares, various buildings in the city have also been adorned with royal banners featuring congratulatory messages.

Social media platforms are also teeming with birthday wishes, with the Twitter accounts of various government agencies, private sector organisations and netizens featuring good wishes and prayers for the King’s continued well-being.

The festivities at Istana Negara today include the conferment of federal awards and medals, and a royal tea ceremony.

The Trooping the Colour ceremony will be held on Sept 12 at Dataran Pahlawan Negara in Putrajaya.
