KUANTAN: The three-day New Straits Times Press (NSTP) MyRumah Property Showcase, here, is more than just providing affordable home for aspiring buyers.
Talks by real-estate experts on investing wisely in properties, achieving financial freedom and future planning (investment) have been closely followed by visitors who gained new knowledge about choosing and purchasing the right property.
Besides listening to the hour-long talks, visitors also posed questions on key information on buying residential and commercial properties, financial planning and saving for a rainy day.
Speaker Azim Sulaiman, who shared tips on wise, safe and responsible property investment, said audience especially youths took the opportunity to be engaged in two-way interaction as they wanted to learn more about the dos and don'ts of buying property.
He said unlike in the past, awareness among the young people to own properties had increased, as many make plans to buy residential homes as soon as they secure a fixed income.
"I shared information on how much loan they could secure, can they afford to service the loans and proper financial management. There are incidents where some young people hastily buy properties and end up finding difficulties to repay the monthly instalments... so today we looked into this issues to avoid making these (default in payment) errors.
"MyRumah is not only about offering property to aspiring buyers but educating them to understand issues related to making better investments. This exhibition is a platform to create awareness among the young people to make plans to own properties and ensure they do it the correct way," he said when met at the exhibition at Kuantan City Mall, here, today.
Visitor, S. Gayathri, 25, said the information shared by Azim allowed youths to have a better understanding on how to plan before getting committed with property loans.
The college lecturer, who stays with her parents in Indera Mahkota, here, said she had recently purchased a car and was planning to buy her own house.
"MyRumah is not only for developers to promote their products but allow visitors to listen, consider and decide if they can commit to any investments. There are lots of important aspects to consider when one buys their first property and the talks at MyRumah certainly served as an eye opener.
"This exhibition is not only about buying properties but provide tips on financial planning and saving money for the future. It benefits people from all walks of life and even if you have no plans to buy property, you can still gain knowledge," she said.
Abdullah Hassan, 50, said although the speakers only spoke for an hour, visitors still managed to gain an insight into property investment.
"Visitors were even allowed to ask questions and were given immediate replies. Some of the speakers today are prominent property experts who charge a minimum of RM50 for those who wish to attend their seminars outside... youths should take the opportunity to listen to the topics as it will be helpful for them on future planning and investments," he said.
