NSTP photographer awarded own exhibition in Kobe festival

KUALA LUMPUR: A New Straits Times Press (NSTP) photographer was awarded with his own exhibition at the Mount Rokko International Photography Festival in Kobe, Japan.

Adi Safri's photographic work shot at Mount Bromo in Indonesia, featured the Yadnya Kasada festival.

It tells a story of the Tenggerese people's rituals and journey in throwing vegetables and livestock in the crater of the mountain as a gift to their gods.

Adi who represented Malaysia, was among winners from the Netherlands, Italy and Singapore.

The exhibition set in a traditional Japanese landscape garden at Sirakuen Garden was held from Aug 28 to Sept 1. It also saw Adi sharing the stage with fellow winners in giving talks on their respective works.

Adi said the exhibition provided him with an opportunity to share ideas and views on the photography industry.

"Besides gaining experience with fellow exhibitors from various countries, I also gained valuable experience in meeting new people and sharing ideas with them," he said.

The seventh edition of the Mount Rokko International Photography Festival themed "My Place My Life", also featured activities such as photography and creative writing workshops as well as industry talks.
