'Sack traitors in PH if Melaka backdoor govt rumours true'

KUALA LUMPUR:Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has called on the Melaka Pakatan Harapan leadership to sack ‘traitors’ who are working with the opposition to topple the state government.

Shamsul Iskandar, who is PKR information chief, said Chief Minister Adly Zahari should not give face to those trying to form a ‘backdoor’ government to oust the state leadership.

‘I respect the statement by the chief minister, who is also Melaka PH chairman, that there is no plot to form a back door government with the opposition.

‘I also share his view that it is just rumours. However, if such a plot exists, please investigate and take action.

‘Sack them from PH (if they are working with the opposition to topple the state government and oust Adly as chief minister),’ said Shamsul Iskandar, who is deputy primary industries minister.

Melaka Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chief Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof denied that there was an attempt to form a ‘backdoor’ government in the state and remove Adly as chief minister.

Redzuan, who is entrepreneur development minister and Alor Gajah member of parliament, said Melaka Bersatu leaders were 100 per cent behind Adly and there was no reason for a change in the state government.

During his visit to the New Straits Times Press headquarters here yesterday,Shamsul Iskandar, who is coordinating chief for all Melaka assemblymen, pledged his support for Adly.

‘We will not allow any quarters to use the same tricks that led to the Perak coup (in 2009).

‘Having said that, the rumours should be investigated. If such a plot exists, we must sack them from PH. We should not have any room for traitors in the coalition.

‘The (PKR) president (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has made his case in the most honourable house, which is the Dewan Rakyat. He is indirectly sending a message to all quarters not to worry about the dissenting views.

‘As a party that respects the principles that have been agreed on (by the PH top leadership), we have delivered by supporting Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the seventh prime minister of the country. Under the same agreement, Anwar will become the eighth prime minister.’

He described the matter as a non-issue and that the leadership should focus on nation building.

‘Let us focus on fundamental issues, such as the economy and poverty eradication.

‘Housing, which is under the Housing and Local Government Ministry, is another issue we should look into.’
