Three students among six held over alleged rape of Form Three girl

KOTA KINABALU: Three students were among six people detained by police here as part of an investigation into an alleged rape of a Form Three girl.

The students, aged between 15 and 27, were nabbed in Papar last Thursday after the victim lodged a police report here on Nov 19.

The girl claimed to have been raped at the Tanjung Aru beach area.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Habibi Majinji said the report states that the incident occurred in early October when the girl bumped into the six males while on her way to a library in Papar.

“The victim knew one of the men and she (agreed to be) taken to the Tanjung Aru beach in a car.

“She claimed to have stayed at the beach until night and could not remember what had happened to her.

“The girl claimed to have lost consciousness after being given a drink,” he said.

Habibi added that the girl only suspected she had been raped after receiving a threat from an acquaintance that there was a photo of her being gang-raped.

The acquaintance threatened to make the picture viral if the girl refused to meet her.

Following that, the victim immediately lodged a police report and went for a check-up at a hospital, Habibi said.

The case is being investigated under Section 375B of Penal Code for gang rape.
