Stop stirring up sensitve issues, warns Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR: All quarters have been urged to stop making statements and remarks touching on sensitive issues.

Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said those who failed to comply and continue to play up sensitive issues would face the full brunt of the law.

“The government through the Home Ministry will not compromise on any action that can disrupt peace and public order,” he said in a statement here today.

Muhyiddin was referring to "provocative statements" that went viral recently, labeling them as unhealthy developments.

The statements and reactions were made in regards to the singing of Negaraku in Mandarin and Arabic, the display of the wrong national flag at a sporting event and the bringing back of former Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) leader Chin Peng's ashes to Malaysia.

Muhyiddin also described the recent incidents involving the Jalur Gemilang and Negaraku were "irresponsible and unpatriotic.”

“At the same time, the sponsoring of any activity to remind or revive communism should not happen and should be stopped.”

“The police have begun investigating these incidents and I have directed them to inform the public on the development of the cases to the public soon.” he said.
