Pas congratulates govt on KL Summit 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has expressed satisfaction over the Kuala Lumpur Summit (KL Summit) 2019.

He said the four-day programme would serve as a catalyst for all the delegations from Islamic countries to converge and discuss issues pertaining to Islam.

“This is a proactive way to strengthen the collaboration among Islamic countries,” he said outside the conference hall.

“This programme serves as the catalyst to overcome weaknesses from Islamic bodies which failed to handle a lot of issues, especially in the west Asia region.

“It is a good move for them to conduct the conference in the South East Asian region which is away from the troubled countries as this region is a peaceful place.

“I would like to congratulate the government for making this a success.”

Hadi was among the delegates who were invited to the opening ceremony at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

He said the topics that would be discussed at the roundtable session in the afternoon did not only focus on politics, but also on science, technology and economic development.

Asked if he supported the government’s initiative, Hadi gave a thumbs up.

“I support the campaign through the non-governmental organisations under us to make sure that the summit is a success,” he said, adding that he was personally invited to the summit opening ceremony by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
