Selangor MB: If Adhif broke the law, he must face the music

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government has stressed that no one from its ranks will be spared from facing the law if they are guilty of wrongdoing.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said this today in response to news that his first-term Dengkil state assemblyman, Adhif Syan Abdullah, was arrested for an alleged drug offence at an entertainment outlet in Puchong, Kuala Lumpur, on Sunday.

Adhif is also Selangor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief.

“No one is above the law in this country, and we have to act appropriately within legal boundaries.

“I learnt of the matter from social media and I need to get a detailed report from the authorities, especially the police, on the arrest and what the consequences are.

“If one (of our people) has flouted the law, we hope there will be strict action taken by Pakatan Harapan and the relevant parties.

“We will wait for the report (on the arrest) and announce our action, if there is any. Let Bersatu decide on its action,” said Amirudin, who is Selangor Pakatan Harapan chairman.

Amirudin said this after delivering his mandate at a monthly state government assembly at the Selangor secretariat building here.

He said he has not contacted Adhif, but that he will get a report from the state Bersatu top leadership on the matter.

Bersatu vice-president and Selangor Bersatu chairman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari had earlier today confirmed that Adhif was arrested for an alleged drug offence.

Adhif, who reportedly tested positive for drugs, has denied that he was arrested.
