Vote Warisan out in GE15 if PSS is a bad policy, says party veep

KIMANIS: People can vote Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) out in the 15th General Election if they are unhappy with the implementation of the Sabah Temporary Pass (PSS).

Warisan vice president Datuk Junz Wong said that it was still too early for people to jump to conclusions on the issuance of PSS to holders of IMM13, Kad Burung Burung and Census certificates.

“There is no need to rush into judgment as there are several more things to finalise before its implementation in June.

“In two-and-a-half-years, if it is not being implemented well or there are any inconveniences because Mykads were issued, people can vote us out,” he said, adding the government would definitely not want to lose because of the PSS issue.

Wong, who is also state Agriculture and Food Industry minister, was speaking to reporters during a Chinese New Year celebration at Jalan Ulu Kimanis.

He also added that if there were any ulterior motives on the issuance of PSS, the government would not have announced the initiative publicly.

Present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, state Youth and Sports Minister Ginger Phoong, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Azis Jamman and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law) Datuk Liew Vui Keong among others.

Azis, who is also Sepanggar member of Parliament, defended the issue on limiting the movement of PSS holders within Sabah as a means to monitor the immigrants.

He was responding to Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan’s tweets questioning why PSS disallowed immigrants in Sabah to travel to other places.

“But they still can go to other places provided they are granted permission from the Immigration Department.

“As for the ‘sharing’ of immigrants with other states, peninsular Malaysia is also facing similar issues with Rohingya refugees and also the influx of Bangladeshis (and other nationals),” he said, adding he had also previously refused Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s request to have admit Rohingyans into Sabah.
