Plus issues CNY travel time advisory for NSE

KUALA LUMPUR: Plus Malaysia Bhd (Plus) today issued its Travel Time Advisory (TTA) for users of the North-South Expressway (NSE) ahead of the Chinese New Year travel period, which begins on Jan 20 and ends on Feb 2.

It said Klang Valley motorists heading towards Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Northern Perak and Johor for the festive season should enter the highway before 9am; while motorists heading to Ipoh, Negri Sembilan and Melaka are advised to begin their travel on the NSE after 12 noon.

In a statement, Plus said that the staggered times are to ensure that traffic flows in stages from the Klang Valley during the busy travel period, when two million vehicles are expected to hit the roads daily.

As for the return trip from elsewhere in Peninsular Malaysia to Greater Kuala Lumpur, Plus is advising motorists to enter the NSE before 9am, Bernama reported.

It added that all highway maintenance and repair works will be temporarily halted between Jan 22 and Feb 2; and that crane and tow truck services will be available at strategic locations on the highway.

PLUS will also provide additional public toilets and mobile water tanks; and install 70 self-service reload kiosks (SSK) at key areas along the NSE.
