Masjidil Haram-inspired mosque to open in April

GUA MUSANG: The Razaleigh Mosque in Bandar Lama here, which is said to resemble Masjidil Haram in Makkah, will open its doors in April.

The RM28 million mosque can accommodate 3,000 worshippers.

Gua Musang member of parliament Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said there was still some work to be done before the mosque could be opened.

He said the mosque was built to replace the old one, which was no longer suitable as it was frequently flooded and could no longer meet the needs of the congregation, especially during Friday prayers.

He said the new mosque would become a beautiful and sophisticated landmark, not only in Kelantan but also Malaysia.

“God-willing, the mosque can be used for tarawih prayers in late April and worshippers will feel more comfortable.”

Tengku Razaleigh said the mosque would offer facilities for conducting pilgrimage courses, dressing rooms for women, meeting rooms, dining halls, as well as rooms for imam and muezzin.

He hoped when the mosque opened, the public would take good care of it, including maintaining a clean and healthy environment. --Bernama
