Top Umno leaders convene at party headquarters

KUALA LUMPUR: Top Umno leaders and the party's Supreme Council Members were seen arriving at the Umno headquarters at Menara Dato Onn here for a special meeting today.

Among the party’s top leaders include vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob; secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa; youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Wanita chief Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad.

Umno Supreme Council members spotted were Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and Datuk Seri Azalina Othman.

Annuar when approached said he received an instruction from the party’s president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi this morning to gather its supreme council members for the meeting.

“(But) on what the meeting is about, I have no idea,” he said.

Pressed further if the special meeting was called following several political party meetings this morning, Annuar replied; “I have heard of the meetings, but we were in Janda Baik.”

Umno and PAS had an inaugural retreat in Janda Baik, which included the presence of PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, and both party's deputies Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

Earlier today, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) gathered at their headquarters in Petaling Jaya, while PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and those allegedly in his camp were said to have gathered at a nearby hotel.
