9 new Covid-19 cases today

PUTRAJAYA: Nine new Covid-19 cases are recorded today, bringing the total of cases to 158, said Health Ministry (MoH) director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said one of the new cases was related to the first cluster, cases 26 and 33, while the remaining were patients under investigation (PUI) and linked to case 131 (participant of ijtimak tabligh at the Seri Petaling Mosque).

Dr Noor Hisham said among the tabligh participants who tested positive were from Sabah, Kuantan, Pahang, Johor Baru, Perak and Kota Baru in Kelantan.

“They already went back to their respective states, what we have done yesterday was announced (that one of the religious gathering attendees tested positive) and asked them to contact us, hopefully we can pick them up,” he told reporters at the Prime Minister’s Office after attending the Covid-19 meeting, here, today.

Meanwhile, he clarified that currently there was no sporadic case in the country.

“After investigation, we managed to trace that he (case 131) attended the tabligh mass gathering, so it’s not a sporadic case as we managed to trace the history,” he said.

Asked will MoH reveal states with Covid-19 patients, Dr Noor Hisham said the matter was still undergoing investigation and once the analysis was completed it would be made public.

“Majority second wave in Klang Valley, again, now with new cluster (linked to tagligh gathering), let us do the investigation first.”

He also revealed six more patients have been discharged.
