KUALA LUMPUR: Wisma Putra has stressed that all Malaysians returning from overseas trips must undergo quarantine.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said this in a tweet today following reports of a massive 'tabligh' gathering in Gowa, Makassar, Indonesia which has now been postponed.

“I am relieved (to hear) that the event has been postponed.”

He earlier said that he received many messages about the gathering in Indonesia yesterday with many Malaysians attending the event.

A Facebook post linked to an organising committee member of the ijtima stated that 411 foreign nationals from nine countries, including 83 from Malaysia were there for the event that to be held from March 19 to 22.

The Malaysian gathering held from Feb 27 to March 1 was attended by some 16,000 followers.

A total of 513 Covid-19 positive cases and one death have so far been linked to this cluster aside from regional cases in Vietnam, Brunei and Singapore.
