MCO Sarawak: All shops, clinics, petrol stations to close by 7pm

KUCHING: All supermarkets, coffee shops, private clinics, restaurants, 24-hour convenience stores and petrol stations in Sarawak will only be allowed to operate from 7am - 7pm daily.

The decision was reached by the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) in a meeting, here, today.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the directive to limit operating hours for all premises will come into effect March 24 until March 31.

"The step is necessary to stop the continued movement of people in certain places.

"The order will be implemented statewide, but it will not affect those involved in enforcement operations such as police, military, medical workers and immigration officials," he said in a statement today.

Unggai who is also the JPBN Chairman said the move was yet another strategy to contain the transmission of Covid-19.

He also said that all supermarkets, pharmacies and private clinics in the state will also have to put in place social distancing practise in their respective premises.

"Police will monitor the implementation of such social distance compliance randomly.

"The owners of the premises are also advised to conduct a temperature check on their customers and to provide disinfectant hand washing liquid," he said.
