MCO: RM1 interbank ATM cash withdrawal fee waived

KUALA LUMPUR: All Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) in the Malaysian Electronic Payment System Sdn Bhd (MEPS) network will waive the RM1 charge for withdrawals.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the waiver would begin on April 6 until the end of the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

“The government, through the Finance Ministry, has decided that all banking institutions would waive the RM1 fee for withdrawals at ATMs, as we have been told that many people are still crowding banks to withdraw at counters.

“We hope that with this waiver, the public would not need to swarm banks,” he said at a press conference today.

Ismail also advised the public to not rush and crowd at the ATMs, and reminded the people to practise social distancing.

“Where possible, please also use online banking services.” he added.
