St John Ambulance forms special force to help govt fight Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: St John Ambulance Malaysia (SJAM) has formed a special force to help the government control the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

The special force, which is led by its lead commander Datuk Lai See Ming, has been doing several initiatives actively since March, such as making face masks for the frontliners.

Lai said SJAM was also collaborating with the Pertoleum Engineers Alumni from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to distribute aerosol boxes to hospitals throughout the country.

"As of yesterday, SJAM has delivered face masks and aerosol boxes to 81 hospitals, clinics and a few of its agencies in Johor, Selangor, Putrajaya, Melaka, Kedah, Sabah, Negeri Sembilan, Pulau Pinang and Perak," he said in a statement today.

"A total of 39,531 face masks, 58 units of aerosol boxes, 3,550 face covers and 200 disposable gowns were handed over by SJAM.”

Besides that, SJAM also offered ambulance services to the Health Ministry and help transfer patients to hospitals.

“Hence, we plead support and donations from the public towards this move from SJAM in supporting the frontliners.
