Residents in 7 Hulu Langat villages allowed to order goods from outside

HULU LANGAT: Residents who are undergoing the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in seven villages in this district are now allowed to place orders and receive goods ordered from outside.

Grocery shop owner Ramli Bakar, 45, said he started receiving orders from the residents four days ago.

"I was told that one family can only make two orders per week, which can be made via WhatsApp and they (the residents) will have to make the payments online.

"As soon as the orders are received, the goods will be packed with the addresses before they are delivered to the authority at the operation centre for distribution.

"Most of the goods ordered by the residents are basic stuff like eggs, chicken and others," he said at the Sungai Lui Community Centre here today.

Meanwhile, seller, Ismail Mohd, 40, said he was requested by his nephew who lives in Kampung Batu 23, to deliver food supply and basic needs today.

"My nephew called me to help deliver the goods yesterday, and this is the second time I sent them to the authority here who are manning the road blocks since outsiders are not allowed to go in.

"Among the goods delivered to my nephew were chicken, meat and other products like medicine," he said here today.

Ismail said his nephew with his wife and three children told him that there were in good condition and not facing any problem.

"They informed me that all their needs and well being were taken care of by the authority during the EMCO in the area.

"The have also undergone screening tests despite not having any symptom and were still waiting for the results," he said.

Prior to this, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said the authority would try to accomodate all the orders for basic necessities made by the residents.

He said basic necessities and products were supplied to the residents at the three areas under EMCO, but there were requests to buy other products like diapers, baby milk, tooth paste and others.

Before this, seven villages, which include Kampung Batu 21 until Batu 24 Sungai Lui, Kampung Gemi, Kampung Orang Asli Paya Lebar and Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Gabai were put under EMCO from March 30 until April 13.

Based on a survey today, a few ambulances and Health Ministry's vehicles were seen entering and exiting the road block at Jalan Sungai Lui here, believed to be transporting residents for screening test at Kinik Desa Sungai Lui.
