MCO compounds must be settled within 2 weeks [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Those who are compounded for defying the Movement Control Order (MCO) must settle the fine within two weeks.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said MCO offenders served with a compound of RM1,000 must make the payment at their nearest police station or district health office.

“They are given two weeks to pay the compound issued by the police.

“If they fail to do so, they will be hauled to court,” he said today.

The police began serving compound notices yesterday.

Ismail Sabri said 95 compound notices had since been issued.

Meanwhile, the Senior Minister (Security Cluster) said the decision on whether the MCO would be extended beyond April 14 would be based on advice from the Health Ministry.

“There is no advice from the Health Ministry yet and we didn’t discuss this in our daily special meeting with ministers.

“I leave it to the Health Ministry to advise the government. Once they have given their recommendation, the government will proceed with an announcement.”

Malaysia is in its second phase of the MCO, which began on April 1. The first phase ran from March 18 to March 31.
