MSU Medical Centre offers drive-thru Covid-19 screening

KUALA LUMPUR: Management and Science University Medical Centre (MSUMC), Shah Alam, has joined efforts to combat Covid-19 by providing drive-thru screening tests for the public.

The screening test, which offers the convenience of getting screened for Covid-19 without having to worry about social distancing, costs RM388 per person and can be done in about five minutes.

The service is provided in three sessions from Mondays to Fridays (10.00am-12.00pm, 12.00pm-2.00pm, 2.00pm-4.00pm) and one session on Saturdays (10.00am-12.00pm).

“Drive-in drive-through intending patients will be required to scan the QR code provided at the registration entrance before proceeding to the billing station and subsequently the testing station.

“The test, which takes about five minutes per person, uses the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method on samples taken from the oropharyngeal (the tonsil) and the nasopharyngeal (the nasopharynx – the upper part of the throat behind the nose and near the base of the skull).

“Applicants may come in for their drive-through appointment after receiving the appointment confirmation slip,” the private specialist hospital said in a statement today.

Appointments can be secured in advance by contacting the hospital at 03-5521-6701 during office hours from 8.30am to 5.30pm on Mondays to Fridays and 8.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.

The public could also WhatsApp MSUMC at 03-55262800, or request for an appointment by filling up an online form and submitting it with proof of online payment by bank transfer.

Payment by card can be made at the MSUMC Specialist Hospital Covid-19 Test drive-through station.

MSUMC noted that patients who undergo the test must quarantine themselves until the test result is relayed to them by phone or WhatsApp between 24 and 48 hours.

Among other private healthcare centres that offer drive-thru services are KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital, Sunway Medical Centre Velocity, Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara, Mawar Medical Centre, Nilai Medical Centre, and Prince Court Medical Centre.
