The beat goes on: Melaka busker moves online during MCO

MELAKA: Due to the Movement Control Order, famed busker Adnan Mat Som has moved from the streets to social media to continue entertaining his fans.

Adnan, fondly known as “Otaiz Buskers”, has garnered a wide following thanks to his slick skills and ability to sing in 15 different languages.

He said about 3,300 people tuned in to catch his recent online performance, which also garnered over 500 likes and comments.

He said what is important now is to send a message to the people that they should stay home during the MCO to break the chain of the Covid-19 infection.

“When I did online busking at my house in Klebang, I got to advise the public not to violate the MCO, which has now been extended until Apr 28.

“There is no charge. Everyone can watch my performance for free and I am glad to have received a lot of support from netizens,” he said.

Aside from Malaysians, Adnan also has followers in Singapore and Indonesia, with viewers there posting numerous positive and encouraging comments on his social media accounts.

Adnan, who has been performing for over 10 years in Sungai Melaka, sings in Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, French and Mandarin, among other languages.

He is also a successful actor, and was last featured in the ‘Gerak Khas’ television series, filming for which took place two days before the MCO was announced.

Adnan expressed hope that the virus outbreak will be over soon so that all Malaysians can return to their normal lives and all economic and social activities can continue as before.
