Bazaar Ramadan officially goes digital today for Seberang Prai

BUKIT MERTAJAM: All the Ramadan favourite dishes and delicacies will soon be at the fingertips for the Seberang Prai folk with the launch of e-Bazaar webpage today.

Following a series of discussions with locals and traders since the announcement that Ramadan bazaars were banned nationwide, the Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) came up with a solution to ensure the annual busy month-long food business was unaffected.

With Ramadan just over a week away, interested traders are urged to register at the https://www.mbsp.gov.my/ebazar/ website from today onwards.

For buyers, all they need to do is select the desired food and choose the food delivery partner such as GrabFood if the traders do not have delivery service.

“e-Bazaar will serve as a one-stop centre to gather links of traders of their businesses on social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp and it will be displayed at e-Katalog.

“With just a click away, all the list of restaurants and food will be listed there for Seberang Prai folk without having to leave their homes,” Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said at the launching ceremony at the MBSP headquarters here today.

Also present were state Local Government and Housing Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo and MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud.

Rozali said that MBSP would also open proposals for collection centres to be managed by organisers with several conditions.

Among the conditions are collection centres to operate between 12pm and 7pm daily only; collection centres must be in a building or gated area; and must practise social distancing.

“The collection point must be based on pre-order, dropship and delivery services.

“The organiser must seek permission from MBSP and they must adhere to the conditions. The permit will cost RM240,” he added.
