'Self-regulation and discipline crucial during CMCO'

PUTRAJAYA: It is crucial for Malaysians to be disciplined and practice self-regulation during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Self-discipline, he said, would help the people protect themselves and their loved ones from the risk of being infected by Covid-19.

"Yes, we can go out now… but are we going to bring our children out to the shop?

"If the answer to that is yes, then I'd like to say that if anything happens to your children, it will be your responsibility.

"Self-discipline is very important," said Ismail Sabri, who is also the Defence Minister, during an interview with the New Straits Times and Berita Harian.

He stressed that those who flouted standard operating procedures (SOP) and directives would face the consequences.

Ismail Sabri urged the people to emulate the self-discipline displayed by the people in Taiwan, which in turn helped protect them from an exponential increase in cases.

The self-regulation and self-discipline exhibited by the Taiwanese, he said, resulted in the country having the lowest Covid-19 infections and fatalities in the world.

"In Taiwan, they never enforced an MCO and yet, they only have six Covid-19 deaths. This is because their people are disciplined," he said.
