Couples working in different states can now travel interstate

KUALA LUMPUR: Married couples living apart in different states can now apply to travel interstate to meet their loved ones, announced Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today.

He said spouses could make their applications through the Gerak Malaysia app or the nearest police station.

"I have been told that there are married couples who live apart due to work. For example, the husband lives in Perlis and his wife in Johor.

"Due to the movement restriction, there are husbands who haven't seen their wives and children for two months.

"The government is now giving married couples the flexibility to travel interstate to meet their families," he said in a special televised address today.

He added that he hoped the Sabah and Sarawak governments would allow for the same flexibility as well.
