Pudu not under EMCO [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The busy district around Pudu market has been placed under administrative restrictions to allow Health Ministry staff to carry out Covid-19 screening on residents there.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said it was not placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) and that residents were still allowed to move freely.

"As we all know, we carry out administrative restrictions on areas where residents are still allowed to go in and out (freely), unlike EMCO where movement is limited and food is delivered to them.

"The residents are being screened for Covid-19, with those who test positive (for the virus) sent to the hospital," he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.

It was reported that enforcement authorities have strengthened security around the Pudu area since last night, with roadblocks and barbed wires put up to cordon off areas around D'Majestic Place towards the intersection of Jalan Pasar/Jalan Pudu and Jalan Landak.
