Yemeni student found dead in Pudu apartment

KUALA LUMPUR: A foul odour coming from an apartment located near Jalan Metro Pudu 2, here, has led to the discovery of the dead body of a private college student, yesterday.

The deceased, a 24-year-old Yemeni man, was discovered around 5pm after police received information from the public.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said the body was taken to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (IPFN) at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for further investigation.

"The autopsy on the deceased man will be conducted today to determine the cause of death. As of now, we classify the case as a sudden death (SDR)," he said when interviewed at the Setiawangsa police station, here, today.

Earlier, he, along with Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid and Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Datuk Seri Aidi Ismail, attended the opening ceremony of the Setiawangsa police station.

Commenting on security measures ahead of the Malaysia Cup final at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil tonight, Allaudeen said they hoped there would be no untoward incidents.

"We issue a stern warning to anyone attempting to cause provocations during the match. The public is advised to follow the authorities' instructions on the ground to avoid congestion," he said.

Yesterday, Harian Metro reported that approximately 1,400 law enforcers from various agencies, including the police, were deployed for security control at Bukit Jalil during the Malaysia Cup final.

In addition to the Malaysia Cup final between Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) and Terengganu FC, the "Madani Government One Year Anniversary" programme is also taking place from today until Sunday at the stadium premises.
