KUALA LUMPUR: Close to 500,000 Felda, Felcra and Risda settlers and smallholders nationwide will receive a special financial aid of RM300 each to mark the Hari Raya celebrations.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said the special payment, involving a sum of RM148 million, will be disbursed from Monday (May 18).
In a statement, the PMO said the payout will benefit 113,000 Felda settlers; 90,000 Felcra operators in the Bottom 40 category and 292,000 Risda smallholders who were cultivating land not more than 2.5ha.
"The government is aware of the declining global market price of commodities such as palm oil and rubber due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The situation has directly impacted their livelihood.
"The government hopes this special aid will ease the burden of those under the agencies, especially when making preparations for the coming Hari Raya," it said.
