Penang announces special Raya aid for civil servants in the state

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government announced a half month's salary with a minimum payment of RM1,200 for all state civil servants for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said a special financial aid of RM300 would also be given to management and teachers of Islamic religious schools as well as teachers and staff of private Chinese schools in the state.

He said the special financial aid is also extended to local authority, statutory bodies and state government subsidiaries, subject to their respective financial capacity.

"The special financial aid is in appreciation to all civil servants, who are the pulse of the state government," he said today.

Chow said the special financial aid would be paid next Friday (March 15).

He said it is estimated to involve a total allocation of RM7.44 million by the state government.

"We hope that it will help ease the financial burden of the state's civil servants, especially in preparation for celebrating Aidilfitri this year," he added.

The state government had also given a half-month salary or minimum RM1,200 special financial assistance to its civil servants during Aidilfitri in 2022.

Last year, it gave a 0.75-month salary or minimum RM1,500 special financial assistance for the same festival to 7,078 civil servants.
