Police offer 50 per cent discount for traffic summonses

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are offering a 50 per cent discount to traffic offenders who settle their outstanding summonses via online transaction from May 18 to 21.

In a statement, Federal police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Azisman Alias said the payment can be made at two platforms, www.myeg.com.my and www.rilek.com.my.

"The Department understands the financial burden of the public during the Movement Control Order (MCO) plus the Hari Raya Aidilfitiri celebration.

"Hence to alleviate the burden, police will offer the discount on selected summonses," he said.

However, accident summonses, non-compoundable summonses, or summonses subject to court cases or arrest warrants, summonses currently under trial and summonses issued during Ops Selamat are not entitled to the discount.

Meanwhile, Azisman said service counters would be opened at the state and district headquarters in stages beginning May 18 to allow the public to settle summonses and to collect documents for road accident insurance claim.

He urged those present at the police headquarters to comply with the standard operating procedure under the Conditional MCO.

The operating hours in Kedah, Johor, Kelantan and Terengganu are from 9am to 2pm on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, the operating hours for other states are from 9am to 2pm on Monday and Wednesday, and 9am to noon on Friday.
