Kota Kinabalu offers up to 80 per cent discounts on traffic compounds until end of March

KOTA KINABALU: The city's anticipated 'Jom Setel Kompaun' programme is now in effect, offering substantial discounts on traffic compounds. Motorists in the city can settle their traffic fines with a reduction ranging from 50 per cent to 80 per cent, valid until Mar 31, 2024.

Kota Kinabalu City Hall, in a Facebook, revealed that the discount is limited to two specific minor laws, presumably to manage traffic violations more effectively and ensure that motorists comply with traffic regulations.

This targeted approach allows for a focused and fair application of the programme.

The initiative aims to provide financial relief to vehicle owners and encourage them to address outstanding traffic compounds.

The discount applies only if the compound is paid in full for each vehicle.

In an effort to streamline the process, payments can only be made online. Motorists can visit eservices.dbkk.sabah.gov.my, to settle their fines.

This online-only approach also serves to prevent the spread of Covid-19 by minimising physical contact and aligns with the government's push towards digitalisation.
