New Covid-19 cluster detected at Bukit Jalil immigration depot

PUTRAJAYA: A new Covid-19 cluster has been detected at the Bukit Jalil immigration depot, with 35 positive cases recorded so far.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said all the cases involved foreigners of various nationalities, who had been detained there even before the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced.

"A total of 645 people have been screened and tested, of which 400 samples turned out negative.

"Meanwhile, 210 of the samples are still awaiting results," he told a press conference today.

Dr Noor Hisham said the positive cases comprised foreigners from Myanmar (17), India (15), Sri Lanka (one), Bangladesh (one) and Egypt (one).

Cause of infections were still being investigated, he said.
