Covid-19: New cases continue to climb

KUALA LUMPUR: There are 187 new Covid-19 cases reported as at noon today, bringing the tally to 7,604 nationwide.

Of these, 10 are imported cases involving three non-Malaysians and seven Malaysians.

177 are local cases of which 173 are non-Malaysians.

This marks a slight increase from yesterday's 172, keeping Malaysia in the three digits category after 22 days of staying below 100.

The number of active cases is 1,448.

In a press conference on Covid-19 updates today, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said another 62 more patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals.

This brings the total number of patients who have recovered from the virus to 6,041.

8 Covid-19 patients are currently in the intensive care unit (ICU), with five needing breathing assistance.

No fatalities from the virus was reported to the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) as at noon today, keeping the death toll at 115.
