PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry is looking into allowing those who have been tested negative for Covid-19 for at least three days to enter Malaysia.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this initiative was similar to the ones practised by the Sabah state government.
"This is an initiative we are looking at, not only for Sabah and Sarawak, but also for those who wish to enter the country.
"It can be used on Malaysians who want to return to the country and foreigners who want to come to Malaysia. We will allow them to enter if they have been tested negative at their respective countries," he said at the daily Covid-19 press conference here today.
Dr Hisham said the Ministry was also considering whether to quarantine Malaysians who returned to the country at quarantine centres or at home.
He, however, stressed this does not apply for those who have yet to be screened for Covid-19.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal yesterday said Malaysians, including Sabahans, entering the state would not have to undergo quarantine.
This was provided they undergo the Covid-19 test for three days before entering the state either by air, land or sea.
