BALING: Baling residents are gearing up for a three-day water disruption starting tomorrow until Wednesday, affecting several towns across the district, as announced by Syarikat Air Darul Aman Sdn Bhd on (Sada).
Checks at towns and villages which will be affected by the scheduled disruption showed active preparations being made.Kuala Pegang night market trader, Siti Zulaikha Mohamad Azlan, 32, said that she made her preparations upon being notified by Sada.
"Sada personnel came into town and briefed locals about the disruption three weeks ago. It's concerning, but hopefully we have stocked up enough water for the next three days," she said at the night market site.
Zulaikha hoped the water disruption would not impact her business.
"If there is a need for additional water supply, I will to get it from nearby Sada contingency tanks," she added.
Another night market trader, Saifal Mohd Said, 41, expressed uncertainty about his level of preparedness, as the town has never experienced such a lengthy water disruption before.
"I've filled several large barrels for my market booth, and I must ration water carefully for home use. We've had brief disruptions before, but nothing as prolonged as this. I'm unsure if my preparations are sufficient," he said.
In Kampung Iboi, residents such as 70-year-old mechanic Razak Abdullah are well-prepared for the water cut.
He said that Kampung Iboi residents, having become accustomed to water issues during floods, have installed their own emergency water storage systems.
"Everytime there's a flood here, there will be water disruptions, so it's not a big issue for us. Our businesses and lives would proceed as usual most likely.
"We have water tanks supplied by non-governmental organisations and tanks built with village funding."
Laundromat owner Haris Hashim, 44, said he anticipates a surge in business during the disruption.
"With my independent well water supply, my laundromat will continue operating, and I expect more customers from those affected by the shortage."
On Jan 21, Sada, on it's Facebook page, announced that parts of Baling will experience water supply disruptions due to maintenance work at the Sungai Limau water treatment plant.
The water supply outage, scheduled to run from Jan 29 to Jan 31, will impact towns in Baling including Kuala Pegang, Relau, Rambong and Pak Bong.
