Home Ministry personnel's incentive payments to be extended

IPOH: The government will extend incentive payments for 1,200 Home Ministry personnel and officers serving at 98 facilities in rural areas nationwide.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, said the monthly incentives will be paid out to the police, Immigration Department, RELA and National Registration Department personnel.

"The payments, which will be disbursed beginning June 1, are Pedalaman (P1) RM500, P2 (RM1,000) and P3 (RM1,500)

"Among the criteria to determine what amount will be allotted are the availability of transportation modes in the rural areas, and the costs, travel risk, and water and electricity source availability.

"Besides this, we also take into account other criteria such as sanitation, telecommunications, health and school services, the availability of facilities such as banks, post offices and fuel supply (in the area)," he said.

Hamzah said this at a press conference after posthumously promoting Corporal Safwan Muhammad Ismail to the rank of Sergeant in an event at the Northern Brigade of the General Operations Force, Ulu Kinta here, today.

Also present were Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Jamil Rakon and Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.

Hamzah added that the incentives will benefit 1,064 police officers and personnel, Immigration Department (29), Rela (14) and National Registration Department (93) personnel.

Safwan, from the Kajang district police headquarters, was manning a Movement Control Order (MCO) roadblock at the Kajang-Seremban Expressway (Lekas) when a four-wheel drive vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver ploughed into him on May 3.
