PUTRAJAYA: The government has allowed the reopening of three of tourism sub-sectors from July 1.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said they are Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE); travel and trip fairs; and spa, wellness and reflexology centres.
For MICE and travel and trip fairs, the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) include limiting gatherings to 250 people at one time.
"All visitors are required to download MySejahtera before entering premises. Organisers must ensure SOPs, like registration, body temperature checks, entry and exit movements, as well as social distancing, are adhered to.
"For spa, wellness (and reflexology) centres, the SOPs set by the National Security Council (NSC) and the Health Ministry include (visitor) registration, temperature checks, face masks and hand sanitisers at the premises," he told a press conference today.
However, Ismail Sabri said only local workers are allowed to operate at the centres.
Operators must obtain permission from their local authorities to reopen their doors, and staff must be screened for Covid-19 before the resumption of business.
Ismail Sabri said masseurs from the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) are also allowed to operate from July 1.
"We are aware that there are over 3,000 blind people involved in the service who have lost their income (during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period).
"Following the current situation, where the number of Covid-19 cases has decreased and we managed to flatten the infection curve, as well as advice from the Health Ministry, the government has decided to allow them to operate," he added.
