KUALA LUMPUR: Ninety-six Malaysians, comprising 72 men and 24 women, along with four children arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) from New Delhi recently.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the returnees were all in good health condition and did not show any Covid-19 symptom.
They were brought back to Malaysia under a disaster and humanitarian aid mission.
"Nasopharyngeal swabs were taken from 88 of them at the KLIA upon arrival.
"Another eight, who are the family members of embassy officials, had been tested before they left India. They were all tested negative.
"All of them have been placed at the Higher Education Leadership Academy in Enstek, Nilai, to observe the 14-day mandatory quarantine," he said in a statement today.
Dr Noor Hisham said they were not placed under home surveillance as the group had returned from a Covid-19 high-risk country.
India has more than 1.04 million Covid-19 cases, third highest in the world after the United States and Brazil.
Dr Noor Hisham added medical workers from Seremban health office would conduct test twice a day to make sure the returnees were healthy before allowing them to return home after the quarantine process ends.
