KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,062 Malaysians returned home via the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and klia2 yesterday and were screened for Covid-19 upon arrival.
Of the number, one was sent to the hospital while the rest were ordered to undergo the compulsory 14-day home quarantine.
Senior Defense Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said those who returned to Malaysia yesterday were from Taiwan, Indonesia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Australia, the Phillipines, New Zealand, Hong Kong, China and Egypt.
"Of the total, 1,061 were ordered to undergo mandatory home quarantine at their respective houses, while the remaining one with symptoms was sent to the hospital," he said in a statement.
Ismail Sabri said from June 10 to July 19, the Health Ministry screened 22,076 individuals upon their arrival at KLIA.
So far, 78 people who returned to Malaysia tested positive for Covid-19 and were subsequently sent to the hospital to be treated.
Ismail Sabri added the police had also conducted checks on 1,365 people who were still undergoing home quarantine to ensure their quarantine compliance.
"All of them were at home, complying with the SOPs" he said.
On the latest sanitisation efforts by the Housing and Local Government Ministry, he said a total of 9,301 sanitisation operations in 134 zones were carried out since March 30.
"So far 12,723 premises have been sanitised which include 2,686 business premises, 5,566 government offices, 1,591 housing areas, 2,526 public places and 354 supermarkets."
Ismail Sabri said 15 sanitisation operations were carried out covering 12 Zones involving four states in Sabah (eight operations), Melaka (two), Terengganu (three) and Pahang (one).
This operation involved 43 personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department and 124 from the local councils.
