PARIT: The couple behind the famous Youtube cooking channel 'Sugu Pavithra' have expressed their ability to handle their own marital problems without help from state counselors.
State Women Development, Family and Community Welfare chairman Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin said this was relayed to her by S Pavithra, 28, when met at her house in Sungai Siput on July 22.
She said Pavithra was confident that she and her husband M Sugu, 29, could handle their problems on their own.
"Pavithra has expressed that she does not require any help. Our officer in Kuala Kangsar also contacted the couple, but was informed that they would rather be given space to settle their problems on their own," she said at an event in Parit today.
Dr Wan Norashikin urged all parties to respect the decision made by the couple.
"However, we are monitoring the situation and have given a number for the couple to reach whenever they have any problems and need guidance," she said.
Last week, Sugu was charged at the Ipoh Sessions Court with possession of a weapon and hurting his wife. He pleaded 'not guilty' to both charges.
It was reported that Sugu had allegedly attacked and hit Pavithra in Ipoh on July 21.
On Saturday, 98 videos previously uploaded on 'Sugu Pavithra', which had garnered almost 800,000 subscribers, were deleted.
Sugu earlier admitted to have erased the videos and a new video for the channel would be uploaded later today following discussions with various parties.
