KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has recorded nine new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, bringing the total number of cases to 9,103.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new cases, five were imported involving three Malaysians and two foreigners travelling into the country from Japan, India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Singapore.
"Meanwhile, the other 4 local transmission cases involved non-Malaysians. Three cases were from the screening test conducted at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot before the individuals returned to their origin country.
"One was detected during a screening at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah. As of today, two positive cases are undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit," he said in a statement.
He said no new fatalities were reported today, keeping the death toll at 125.
Dr Noor Hisham said current active Covid-19 cases were now at 169 and six patients have been discharged today, bringing the number of total recoveries to 8,809 (96.7 per cent).
Meanwhile, no new cases were detected as of today from the Sivagangga and Kurau clusters.
Dr Noor Hisham said as of noon today, a total of 5,645 individuals have been screened from the Sivagangga cluster and positive cases had so far remained at 45.
"For the Kurau cluster, 180 people have been screened from Perak and Penang. The total positive cases in this cluster remain at 5.
"Active case tracing and close contact screenings are still ongoing for these two clusters. The latest update will also be informed to the public from time-to-time."
