7 killed, 3 injured in grisly 2-vehicle crash in Simpang Pulai

IPOH: Seven people were killed and three others injured in a collision between a Perodua Alza Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) and a trailer lorry at Jalan Keramat Pulai near Simpang Pulai here, today.

The deceased, who have not been identified, comprise two children and five adults, who were killed on-the-spot.

The injured are composed of two children and a man. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The victims are all believed to have been passengers of the Alza. It is learnt that they were en route to Cameron Highlands, Pahang, when the accident occurred.

A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said they received a distress call on the accident at 5.55pm.

"A team of firemen from Simpang Pulai was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, we found that there were 10 people in the MPV.

"The operation (to extricate the victims and clear the crash site) is still ongoing," he said.

The spokesperson added that the bodies were taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for post-mortems.

The injured were conveyed to the same hospital for treatment.
