Man missing, believed to have jumped off Penang Bridge

GEORGE TOWN: A man is believed to have leaped from the Penang Bridge here this evening.

The 24-year-old had left his red Perodua Bezza at Km2.2 of the bridge with the engine on and door ajar.

A cell phone was also found at the scene.

Prai Fire and Rescue Station operation officer Zulkhuari Abdul Rahman said they received a call about the incident at 8.26pm.

He said when Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the scene, the man was nowhere to be seen and a search mission was immediately activated.

Zulkhuari said they are conducting surface searching at the spot where the victim was believed to have jumped.

On Tuesday, a 54-year-old man was said to have jumped off the Penang Bridge at Km7.4 at about 1pm.

He left his wallet and a motorcycle on the bridge before jumping off.

His body was found the following morning.
